Hi,
I read your story about MCI. You wouldn't believe my story. My wife went to Europe for 2 weeks and called me daily with our MCI calling card. We have had the calling card for years. I didn't even realize we were not on some sort of plan. I just assumed that when we had a valid working MCI calling card, that we were preferred customers. They advertise rates from Western Europe as low as 7 cents/minute on the media and on their web site. My wife called me daily using the card. She preferentially used the card because she felt it was economical. She made something like 25 calls ranging from 1 minute to 30 minutes. We received 2 phone bills from MCI, each for over $600 which was automatically deducted from my AMEX. MCI collected almost $1300 for a handful of calls. They charged rates as high as almost $8 / minute for some calls. I called them and they argued I should have checked before I called. This is bullshit. No one in their right mind would expect a seemingly reputable company to gouge an unsuspecting consumer, charging them over 100 times advertised rates. This is criminal. If you went to a doctor to have a minor procedure performed that most doctors charge $250 and the doctor charged you $25,000, it would not be a valid excuse to charge this much because you didn't ask ahead of time. I am so pissed of at the outright deceptive, criminal practices of MCI and their attitude. They are a very dirty company. Any suggestions?

Best regards,
