Flash 5.0 Streaming Audio Examples
Click on Button to Play Audio
Bellow are some tests that we did with flash 5.0 and Flash MX Bellow is a basic button playing the audio in flash 5.0 and embedded in this HTML file. We started with the .wav file.
Flash 5.0 pop .wav -- This is the flash in a pop-up form. It requires Javascript.
Flash 5.0 from .wav file -- Flash 5 has larger penetration however it recompresses the MP3 so it sound icy (because the MP3 you gave me is already compressed) -- if we went with flash 5 then I should compress the original AV or WAV file in flash. The benefit of going with flash 5 is that more people would hear it.
Clip Streams in Flash 5.0 from MP3 -- Flash 5 has larger penetration however it recompresses the MP3 so it sound icy (because the MP3 you gave me is already compressed) -- if we went with flash 5 then I should compress the original AV or WAV file in flash. The benefit of going with flash 5 is that more people would hear it.
Clip Streams in FlashMX (or 6.0) -- FlashMX will stream the MP3 files you gave me without compressing them again, however, it is my understanding that only 70% of surfers will have MX.
Clip Plays in Quicktime -- Ironically, simply pointing to the raw MP3 file http://wolfram.org/clients/eharmony/mp3/1.mp3 and, on my browser, it automatically opens quicktime and does exactly what we want.
Note: This flash movie will only stream audio online.

Tutorial for some extra features -- If we go with FlashMX, we could embed a play and pause button directly on the HTML page. Check out this tutorial.
Tutorial for making the FlashMX accessible -- I like how the example on this page pops a browser.
